Tiffany’s Story
My name is Tiffany Bell, and I am the director of F.A.I.T.H. Cancer Care Foundation. I grew up in Clarksville, TN where I graduated from Northeast High School and subsequently Austin Peay State University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. I believe that my position in the ministry at F.A.I.T.H. Cancer Care Foundation is a calling. I’ve always had a heart for people and a natural leaning towards sympathy and empathy. Even as a little girl I assisted my mother and family in working various helps and ministries, such as food banks and senior care programs.
When F.A.I.T.H. Cancer Care Foundation was founded, I knew that my destiny was to assist with the program. My great grandfather was diagnosed with stomach and prostate cancer. My aunt and a dear friend were diagnosed with a combination of ovarian, skin and breast cancer.
From the tender age of 15, I have personally witnessed the pain of those inflicted with this horrible disease. As I grew older my awareness of cancer and the need for support programs like FAITH Cancer Care seemed to be heightened. I have driven cancer patients to their appointments, prayed for cancer patients, wiped the tears of cancer patients, cried with cancer patients and donated money to assist cancer patients. And for some reason I always felt happiness and a sense of purpose doing it.
I am an Army Veteran and have held six other jobs including a managerial position at Walgreens, but none of them gave me the sense of joy and purpose that I have serving families and those afflicted with cancer. This is my calling; it’s natural for me and I love doing it.
In 2017 when Simone had received her ovarian cancer diagnosis, any inkling of lingering doubt about my life’s work was eradicated.
In 2018 my own brother was diagnosed with an unknown autoimmune sickness that left him in a coma and literally on his death bed. I stood in a hospital room watching doctors unplug my brother from life support. During that horrible time, I was further inspired by the care of the social worker that was assigned to his case. One day while searching for an internship, I received a call and was declined but offered a job as, you guessed it, a case manager. This afforded me the opportunity to grow and experience firsthand the fact that people who are suffering often are left with nowhere to turn, no one to help them, and no one with them. That’s why I will always stand firmly on F.A.I.T.H. Cancer Care’s motto “with you always”.
Fast forward to 2019, another family member was diagnosed with Breast Cancer I gained lots of experience accompanying them to immunotherapy appointments while simultaneously finishing my master’s degree work at New Orleans’ Tulane University’s School of Social Work. I think it’s fair to say “ain’t no stopping me now”. Through F.A.I.T.H. Cancer Care, I am determined to become the best social worker in the State, but it’s a heart thing. I love people, I help people, and if you are hurting, I and F.A.I.T.H. Cancer Care will be with you, always. We solicit your prayers and support, especially prayers.
